Not satisfied with last March’s well-received “Panopticon” album, the prolific DIY darkwaver even responded with a flurry of 4 singles and accompanying videos over the weekend, but who knows if in the meantime… As usual, scattered, crashing and heart-pounding beats pulsate in unison with melancholic melody-carrying brooding basslines, to punctuate a relationship tragedy that occurred in the “Blink of an Eye”, reverberated by a hypnotic reiterate glare of radiating nostalgic guitar melodies, whilst restless ghostly vocals and heartfelt back-ups ramble in regret and dread.

Our old acquaintance Deaf Dance led by former Flaamingos singer Jerry Narrows is back after a long hiatus with a new EP, whose opening track, “Dancing Dolls”, we particularly favour, with its sinister and mysterious ’80s Wave aura, pulsating over serpentine humming basslines, vibrant tinny jagged guitar riffs and mellow passionate, plaintive accordion-like keyboard swells, around romantic baritone broods and menacing echoes, revealing the criminal secret lying behind the ‘Dancing Dolls’.

The latest of the persuasive double releases in the new year from the Mancunian Gregg Alexander Neville‘s music project is a slice of modern highly danceable and nuanced Darkwave injected with an equally murky and clattering electrifying brew of EBM and Industrial propulsive vibrancy, captures the unbearable uncertainty and fear caused by a toxic person, layering ominous simmering and droning bass oscillations with tight pounding beats and icy piercing synth drama, whilst vocals shift back and forth from sinister whispers to anguished cries, left painfully desperate and ashamed, “you saw the devil inside me.”
