WL//WH Weekly Post-Punk // Darkwave // Dark Synth Tips – APRIL 2026 – #14-26

It’s the 9th consecutive season for Mike D (longtime editor of the WL//WH team) on-air, with Wave After Wave radio program this year relocated to the internet station DarkwaveRadio.Net Every Tuesday, Live at 22.00 (EET) / 21.00 (CET)
PICKS OF THE WEEK:
- Brussels-based veteran Cold Post Punk quartet The Ultimate Dreamers “Spiritchaser (neon glow)” from “Paradoxical Implants” EP [Spleen+]
Brussels-based veteran Cold Post Punk quartet The Ultimate Dreamers, formed in the mid-1980s, presents a special 6-track remix EP created in close collaboration with their long-time producer Len Lemeire, also known for his work with IMPLANT. “Paradoxical Implants” forges a raw, evocative, and vibrant push-and-pull between the gloomy, cold glimmers of moody post-punk greyish abstraction and the gritty, droning, throbbing embrace of the full-bodied old-school electronic rhythmic pressure.
- California goth /EBM /electronic /dark disco /dark wave solo project, Vick Vapors “Release Me” single
The Inland Empire-based musician and composer constantly explores pulsing, obscure darkwave club burners with a symbolic new dance-minded track about longing for death to find happiness in another life. A bouncing and loud fusion of buzzing murky low-end energy, punchy beats, and swaying obsessive, flashy synths consumes softly harsh, resentful male vocals, getting mercilessly pounded, before starting to echo, and then finally becoming agonizingly distorted whilst repeating “release me,” into a relentless droning vortex of giving up.
- Florida experimental synth-pop /dark wave artist Violent Vickie “Skin & Bones” the third track from the upcoming album “Conjure”
Florida-based producer and musician delivers an emotionally ridden amount of buzzing synth-pop flair with depth, intensity and restraint, that atmospherically delves into the glowing darkness churned by the deleterious consequences of shame, anger, and blame, imbued by melancholic vocals of spiraling airy soft reverb, rising into subdued, pain-filled cries alongside sharp, poignant synth drifts, to explore helplessly watching an anorexic person starve themselves to death.
