Leipzig’s synth singer and composer sculpts an immersive synth scape of heartfelt emotive depth interwoven with gloaming gothic melancholy, lead by buzzing and hypnotic cold mid-tempo rhythms, stabbed by sparse lonely tinkling keys, whilst slightly distorted plangent arpeggiated synths swirl with haunting glaring vibrancy over gloomy ceremonial vocals longing for the emptiness and fear felt by being abandoned to be filled with hope.

Anticipated by the mesmerizing single we featured a few days ago, the new EP of Josefine Lindbergs‘ solo Synth-Pop project sways seamlessly between cold, earnest and danceable Minimal Wave, edgy and gloomy in the pulsing droning bottom ends, and more contemplative, intimate and ethereal in the latter part, delving with fluidity and intensity into different facets of the synth-laden sound and always ending up with a hauntingly captivating and persuasive distinctive flair, through an introspective journey lead by a seemingly aloof, whispery vocal delivery, imbued with deep restlessness and heartfelt melancholy yet grounded by a subtly sense of serene hope. Let’s hope not to have to wait another 10 years…

While approaching the release of his instrumental album, the French musician gears up for it with a creative string of powerfully emotive Cold Post-punk classicism, it’s always a great feeling to listen to. The latest track about the fear of loneliness, driven by hard-hitting beats laced with thick and subtly sinister bass meanderings, is layered with haunting synth reverberations, chromatic strums, and effect-filled piercing and painful guitar cries, whilst restless doomy vocals, struggle to find peace with the face in the mirror.
