80s-inspired heartfelt DIY synthpop duo returns with a lush, dazzling, melancholic number, driven by insistent slapping and flickering rhythms and chime-like, flashing and entrancing synth chords, swirling around highly emotional, desperate vocals, warning about the deceptive spectacle of the modern world.

Deft purveyors of an anxiously frantic yet earnestly vibrant and politically charged throwback to electro-synth-pop patterns, the Swiss collective gives a glimpse of the ongoing new album sessions with an instrumental outtake. “Faux Départ” races through the steady clattering drum machine beats to counterpoint the equally percussive, rumbling and wobbling bass lines, while both nervously obsessive and wistfully skewed playful synth melodies scratch and deconstruct the surface, like in the accompanying Isidore Isou‘s 1951 movie frames, along with a lingering choppy chattery stream that turns into a final vocal shout, prompting a sense of riding down a high-speed tunnel, to push beyond conformity and habit.
