The first contact from Lyon‘s new label Intelligence UFO focuses on trippy and percussive-laced otherworldly electronic music “to take the listener on a psychedelic journey through the mysteries of the universe”. Marseille‘s boundless and eclectic producer Smogo unfurls a shadowy mind-bending excursion into a primal archetypal realm drenched in hypnotic, slithering crisp tribal percussions, deep bass tones, croaking and hissing drones, eerie synth glows and distant shamanic mumbles that emits both immersive and expansive imaginations of vigilance and insight.

Grabbing from the most angular and disturbing Daniel Lopatin, and the early 00s Autechre’s dystopian cavernous scrapes and grit eruptions, galaxies away from the indie melodicism of his Goodbye Wudaokou project, Irkya‘s debut is an off-kilter experimental number that evokes the sensation of being in an oppressive below-ground shaft where chipping metallic shards and warped melodies melt into a dysfunction of broken springs and tinkling chimes, to end with a cool cathartic vacuum.
