PICKS OF THE WEEK:
- DIRK WIERTZ // E-L-E-C-T-R-O Mix – April 2026

- Hudson, NY ambient /IDM /drone /dub /leftfield house /deep techno /experimental modular electronic producer Griff Fulton, aka Aspetuck “Hit Me With Your Pet Shark” from upcoming “Immersion” LP [A Strangely Isolated Place]
Created just months after the loss of Griff’s brother and during the sleepless swirl of new parenthood, the album opener lays off a sparse, evocative, introspective ambience with an earnest and sober emotional weight, grounded by wistful vibrant glowing keys, meandering in a circular flow with plump bottom end pulses, constantly layered with subtle percussive patterings, profound blowing mists, and dull jittery pads to give emotive depth and nuance to the whole, whilst bringing forth a moving thought-provoking immersion of balance, focus and clarity.
- Barcelona futuristic /dubstep /breaks /minimal /electro producer Kodama “Humanoid” off V/A “Humanoid” EP [Planet Rhythm]
An urgent drive of sparse thunderous claps and relentless crisp lashing snares marries with desolate, gently glowing synth swells and faint, wistful humanoid vocoded vocals, to transport the listener into an uncanny yet stirring cinematic ambience rich in pathos and enthralling sci-fi narrative.
- Moscow acid /psych /nu-disco /indie dance /nu beat /slow trance producer Alexander Klygin, Ruksby “Imagination” from “Phosphene Cognition” EP [Distant Gaze]
The EP opener rolls out a gritty, dark acid groove that steadfastly oscillates into a trance-like headspace, churning and creeping through thudding beats, stuttering squelchy TB-303 lines, vibrant euphoric leads and transcendental chords around wise male primal voice clips, to flood your body and levitate your mind into the “Imagination.”
