WL//WH is glad to premiere the new music video written and directed by Berlin-based filmmaker and photographer Lumi Lausas, for Seda‘s debut single “The Girl Who Was Killed by a Snake” released on April 2019 through “La Double Vie” label.
Seda is an Hamburg-based musician and visual artist originally from Istanbul, co-founder of the emerging art collective and creative label La Double Vie, representing musicians, filmmakers, visual artists and writers from Europe, South America and Asia.
Growing up in the Turkish capital under the influences of the musicians such as Selda Bagcan, Tülay German and Baris Manco, Seda is graduated from one of the top-ranked film school in Istanbul and is currently pursuing her visual art degree at the Hamburg’s Academy of Fine Arts.
The self-produced and written “The Girl Who Was Killed by a Snake”, part of the upcoming debut album “Çekirdek” later in 2019, is based on the Hungarian fairytale of the Maiden’s Tower (Kiz Kukesi), stemming from one of Aphrodite’s Greek Myths relating to love, suicide, and suffering.
The visuals are presented within the dream world of a woman whose nakedness reflects in colour and light which leads to her ambiguous drowning in self-induced claustrophobia.
Immersive, mournful, atmospheric and spacious tapestry of synth textures, understated rhythm section and deeply enticing, dramatic, and smooth vocals ooze mystery, fear, and dangerous isolation steeped in sorrowful and faint wafting melodies, rousing desolate emotional intensity beyond any temporal limitations.
