Video Premiere PLUTO IS A PLANET
Pluto is a Planet is a Tasmanian two-piece Electro /Dream Pop /Shoegaze band, consisting of Darren Barnes, whose other musical exploits are the noted Australian Shoegaze outfit “Trillion”, and Tony Hubbard who under the handle of “Kirp” also writes, creates, and produces his own take on Shoegaze.
On the new 5-track “Response Too” EP, the pair have ditched their beloved towering atmospheric guitars to indulge in their love of moody ’80s-era electronica peppered with icy synths that combine with the odd ethereal pad.
WL//WH is pleased to premiere the opening track “2 way Mirror”, which explores the hidden mechanisms integrated into social media that can mislead users into thinking they are in control of their choices.
A weirdly distorted fog, emanating from a disharmonious fusion of buzzing bass tones, crisp, hypnotic thumping beats and sad symphonic synth swathes, overlies anxious spoken word vocals, struggling to deliver a heartfelt warning through the warped and mind-altering frequencies.
An Artificial Intelligence visual creates a neon cyber-punk realm, not unlike our own, where computers exist in every nook and cranny of the environment, even on the person. The people on the streets don’t talk to each other and their faces are emotionless and withdrawn. Suggestive illustrations show transformative issues such as false body image, digital twins, and glitchy altered time states. Finally, gadgets fuse with the human physique and psyche, giving insight into the transhuman agenda at hand.
Pluto is a Planet‘s new “Response Too” EP is out now on Ltd. Compact Disc (CD) & Digital, via Shore Dive Records.
