Nashville, TN based cinematic dream pop band Palm Ghosts, led by songwriter and producer Joseph Lekkas, have groomed and grown their distinctive modern take on the new wave / post-punk sound aesthetic of the early 80s to refined and fresh results, in an emotional and gripping mix of introspective energy and mesmerizing melodic intensity.
Palm Ghosts, currently comprised of Joseph Lekkas, (Vocals, Bass, Guitars, Keyboards, Drums), Ben Douglas, (Vocals, Guitars, Keyboards) and Jason Springman (Vocals, Guitars, Drums), are going to release a new 6-song EP called “Loop Arcade” out on July 24th, on digital download and a limited edition run of 100 CDs, available on the group’s Bandcamp.
WL//WH is very pleased to premiere the music video for the first single “Press Animal”, first of a series of accompanying visuals for each track from the EP, soon available on PG’s YouTube channel.
Echoing mid-80s Mancunian hints, swift and intense melodies ignite over steady, energetic drumbeats, warm keyboard pulses, low bass rumblings, and sparkling guitar chords bleeding fiery urgency along with sad, detached male vocals left, breathlessly striving for a meaningless existence, amid guttural shouts of attention-grabbing mania.
“Press Animal” observes the current political climate trending in the United States as an overwhelming lust for airtime, and an eternal fight for the media spotlight riding a raging tide, “Under the roll of the electric eye.”
Black and white vintage movie clips pair with futuristic illustrations and neon overlays to transform time, motion, and perception through a multi-dimensional lens of lapsed photography and scientific studies to explore the overwhelming growth and expansion of sensationalism found in contemporary modes of expression.
Palm Ghosts‘ 6-song EP, “Loop Arcade”, is slated for release, Ltd. CD/Digital, on July 24th.
