WL//WH Video Premiere: NIGHTS TEMPLAR Escape Urban “Claustrophobia” with Visions of Japan

WL//WH Premiere  Nights Templar

The enigmatic Californian DIY Minimal Synth act based in Long Beach, Nights Templar, has sealed a prolific 2023 collecting, for the second year in a row, 13 songs on the Vinyl and Cassette compilation, “Year Two”, via the affiliated label Reapo Records.

Nights Templar concocts a washed-out intriguing synth-laden sound palette somewhere between Cold Wave /Dream Pop /Minimal Synth and Post-punk, infused with a pensive emotive haze and lo-fi aesthetics.

WL//WH is pleased to Premiere the visuals for “Claustrophobia” shot on Miyajima Island near Hiroshima, Japan by director E. Monico.

A struggling soul knows what a good relationship feels like thanks to his trusty twin friend, but still struggles to leave the “Claustrophobia” of the unhealthy environment he lives in.

Claustrophobia” wanders its way through metronomic crisp drum programming laced with lively pulsing organic basslines, somberly swept by distorted glaring synth drifts and insistent squeaky flickering chords, to immerse soft angsty vocals in a blurred iridescent spiral of bittersweet nostalgic daze.

Beautiful ‘on location’ visuals by E. Monico sync magical travel footage from Japan with the dreamy anticipation of the soundtrack. Steady flows of ‘out of the window’ urban motion intersperse with sprawling scenic nature views of Miyajima Island where wild deer walk with the population in seamless harmony to evoke feelings of peace and comfort at the hands of a natural existence.

Nights Templar‘s  2023 compilation album, “Year Two”, is out now, on 12″ Vinyl/Cassette & Digital, via Reapo Records.
