WL//WH Video Premiere: MERCVRIAL knows how to “Be That Someone”

WL//WH Premiere MERCVRIAL

Following on from 2019‘s“The Stars, Like Dust” EP, Baja, Mexico based 4-piece Mercvrial are approaching the release of their long-awaited debut full-length album, “Brief Algorithms”, out April 29th, via Brighton, UK DIY label Crafting Room Recordings, with an evocative video for the psychological new single, featuring Terry Bickers (House of Love/Levitation) on additional guitar, “Be That Someone”, WL//WH is pleased to premiere.

Blending elements of Post-Punk, Dreampop and Neo-Psychedelia, the band captures the smudged romanticism and captivating breezy melancholy that marked the sparkling strains of the best mid-80s UK atmospheric guitar pop haunted by somber undercurrents of bass pulsations.

Mind-racing lyrics confirm the overwhelming attitude of struggle, competition, and shallowness found in the modern hustle using egoistic suggestions of success and glory.

Groovy nostalgic vibes coalesce sinuously throbbing thick bass lines, obsessive chiming effect-laden guitar melodies, and steady punchy drum beats into an intoxicating restlessness around the anxious anticipation of layered vocals, rising and falling with ecstatic emotions into alluring and hypnotic waves of algorithmic sensations.

Soul-stirring imagery blends social media obsessions with strategic overlays and a thought-provoking narrative to shine a light on the darker side of modern technological frenzies. Fragmented psyches from non-stop texts, likes, and selfies transform intimate relationships into an alternate reality where secret friends, bludgeoned self-esteems, and parallel distractions take a tragic toll on one’s sense of self and others.

MERCVRIAL‘S debut LP “Brief Algorithms” is due out on April 29, 2022, on all major streaming platforms the same day through Crafting Room Recordings
