WL//WH Premiere DAYFLOWER
Dayflower, the Leicester, UK collaborative Shoegazey Dream Pop project of Alex Clemence (vocals, guitar, synths) and David Dhonau (bass, guitar, synths, piano, cello, beats), drops an Official Video, filmed and edited by dd, for “Lazy” a song made with the talents of Simon Bland (drums), Chris Merriman (electric guitar), and Tom Trigg (electric guitar), lifted from both Dayflower’s EP of the same name and last September’s sophomore album, “Comfort”, via Chicago independent label’s Sunday Records.
Immersive, textured, lighthearted, and wandering, “Lazy” places agile, easy-going drum patterns to weave effortlessly alongside lively bass pulses, washed over by airy vortexes of hazy distorted guitar sheets, distant brassy melodies, and glassy liquid quivers, to ebb and flow atop layers of sassy, wistful, and dreamy vocals, longing to spend time with a friend.
Filmed and edited by dd himself, using footage from friends and collaborators, including visual artists Miriam Bean, Stuart Hicking, Vicki A. Lee, and featuring Leicester-born musician-filmmaker Lakeem Rose, who releases shoegaze-infused alternative pop through his label accident_mandem_ (his ongoing artist documentary “being_mandem_” also includes Dayflower bassist David Dhonau), the visuals form a disjointed stream of consciousness in sync with the soundtrack. Thought-provoking symbols, colors, saturations, and textures mix with Dayflower performance clips, urban adventures, and translucent fish swimming overlays to evoke a surreal vibe swept in curiosity and disorientation.
For Dayflower’s first live outing since the release of the COMFORT LP on Chicago’s Sunday Records, they welcome London-based singer-songwriter Marina Yozora to Duffy’s Bar in Leicester on May 15, 2026.
Keep up with Dayflower:
