WL//WH Premiere A Lilac Decline
Having blossomed into a fully fledged 3-piece band, centered around Swedish-born singer, songwriter, guitarist, and lyricist Cecilia Danell, alongside bassist/keyboardist Keith Wallace (Loner Deluxe) and drummer Brian Kelly (So Cow), Galway-based A Lilac Decline announce the third album, “Eternity Bores Me“, to be released on May 1st via Rusted Rail, with the opening track “Shadow Days” accompanied by a spooky and atmospheric monochrome music video shot under a full moon.
Heralding the 20th year of the label’s inception, the new full-length finds A Lilac Decline further evolving their Shoegaze and Dream Pop stylings, whilst also displaying flashes of their handmade and homespun Indie-Folk roots.
“Shadow Days” is a nighttime song about being without others in present moment awareness while time pushes by.
A spellbinding, intoxicating journey into the spiritual realms of stirring intimacy and lilting, hazy washes of shimmering, airy stroked strums, meanders organically through hazy keyboard glows and vibrant humming prisms, amid stabbing twinges of poignant whining guitars, to gently cradle moody female vocals, veering between wistful dreaminess and alienated angst, from a chilly storm of whizzing winds.
The paired video by Rusted Rail begins with a magical twilight aura covered in dim swirling lights. Then, Cecilia Danell wears tear-smeared Gothic eye makeup to perform a candlelight ritual that emits ghostlike reflections into the atmosphere. Time goes by, from day to night, as she sits alone in a contemplative manner. Finally, after walking with her shadow, flames flicker from hand-cupped tea candles across her face as her arms spread reverently to bring forth a transformation.
A Lilac Decline’s third album, “Eternity Bores Me“, is due out on May 1, 2026, via Rusted Rail. CD & Digital Album preorders are available now via Bandcamp.
