WL//WH Video Premiere: A DISTANT SHORE holds a “Better Day”

WL//WH Premiere   A DISTANT SHORE

Although together for about a year, the Italian ‘electronic dream-gaze’ trio from Reggio Emilia, A Distant Shore, comprise experienced musicians such as Riccardo Spaggiari on synth & electronics, former percussionist of Ataraxia and soloist as Cosmos in Collision, Gualtiero Venturelli on guitar, both part of the indie/post-rock instrumental band Amp Rive, along with the precious enchanting voice of Giovanna Dazzi.

In the space of a concise debut 4-track EP, “Better Days”, dropped last June, through US independent label Somewherecold Records, the band have shown to be heady purveyors of dreamlike sun-dazzled soundscapes with a dizzying combination of atmospheric enveloping synths, pulsating electronic rhythms, ethereal reverb-laden guitar layers and clear bittersweet vocals.

The slow-building immersive and soul-stirring “Better Day” drifts on wistful warm airy synth flow, undulating, bubbling low ends, bolstered by scattered tinny off-tempo rhythms, while dazzling crystalline guitar melodies meander, reverberate and shimmer like a refractive rippling waterway to escalate in piercing vibrant intensity, echoing dreamy, sad female vocals, aching and longing in emotional confessions of lonely moods and lifeless energies, to float weightlessly into the uncovered shores of self-discovery.

The nostalgic vintage visuals, Wl//WH is pleased to premiere, unfold Hawaiian daydreams that hover featherlight through waves of despair, while a pink flurry of seagulls glide, fly, and sail to new destinations, carrying past trauma to the outer rim of subconsciousness. Polar planes shift upside down to merge sea and sky in a harmony of unseen creations, allowing murky formations to shape-shift over shipwrecked memories reflecting on vintage sadness and inherited pain.

A Distant Shore debut EP, “Better Days”, is out now on limited CD and all digital formats via Somewherecold Records.
