Zoltan Freitag, the one-man Electro Wave Synth act from Turin, Italy, returns with a video directed by fellow Italian photographer Simona Minutolo for the title track of his recently released new 5-track EP “Slowdown.”
Hypnotic, sentimental, and haunting, “Slowdown” imbues icy rousing synth swathes, gentle yet vibrant and penetrating chilly keyboard melodies, light droning pulses, and minimal disruptive, clattering train-like sounds under a powerful baritone, both poignant and pensive, vocal, reflecting on the difference between the realm of sleeping dreams and the land of awake reality.
An imaginative black-and-white vision by Simona Minutolo beautifully syncs the rich tones and temperament of the soundtrack with a subconscious maze of Jungian curiosity. Chiaroscuro lights and shadows and subtle shifts of focus perfectly capture the surreal mindset that lies somewhere between the dream state and material perception amid an array of archetypal imagery and thought-provoking reflections.
