The Italian one-man Electro Wave Synth project from Turin, Zoltan Freitag teams up again with fellow Türinèis vocalist and lyricist Simona Minutolo, under her Anomys alias, in a video created by Giulia Gaudiano, Serena Minutolo and Zoltan Freitag himself for “Voli all’incontrario / Flights In Reverse”, the title track of his latest 3-song EP.
As we have come to expect from Freitag’s timeless, retro-futuristic atmospheric vibes, the song builds a darkly introspective dreamscape punctuated by hypnotic, asymmetrical, punchy drum patterns and buzzy bass warbles, topped by a sidereal disclose of misty, glowing, and glittering synths, raining eerie sparkler spirals and secretive immersive sensations around low sultry female vocals, poetically brooding over shadows amid ghostly echoes.
Just like the thought-provoking lyrics, the Lynchian visuals by Giulia Gaudiano, Serena Minutolo, and Zoltan Freitag explore how memories shape what we feel today and also how they define our future by showcasing Simono Minutolo performing “Voli All’incontrario” wearing different personas to represent altered timelines. The vibe is surreal and shows slow, graceful dancing under strobing neon lights, while a screen with symbolic imagery merges with suggestive hand movements to transport the viewer through time.
