Video Of The Day ZOLTAN FREITAG Ft. ANOMYS
The Italian one-man Electro Wave Synth project from Turin, Zoltan Freitag, teams up again with fellow vocalist and lyricist Simona Minutolo, under her Anomys alias, in a video created by Simona Minutolo herself for “Medea,” the second song on the freshly released four-track EP “Beyond the Veil.”
The insightful and archetypal “Medea” ignites a buzzy haze that hypnotically swirls, suspended, in arpeggio-laden, twinkly synth melodies, above subtly crackling and mechanical rhythmic patterns, rippled by a dramatically swelling brief interval, to flutter through ethereal ghostly flares whilst cloaking Anomys magnetic husky female vocals, in a heady surreal depth, cast in a smooth flow of colorful lights.
In the companion video, Anomys delivers a dramatic interpretation of “Medea” in sync with the soundtrack. She wears Greek goddess dresses that alternate from black to white while holding, in her hands, an array of signifiers. In the dark underworld, light is inverted, and perception is skewed, causing pain, angst, and murder of the heart. In opposition, the white elevated realm is calm, pleasant, and bright.
