WL//WH Video Of The Day YEARS OF SHAME
Devised between Paris and Rennes, Years of Shame is the new French “sadwave” music project comprising vocalist Berne Evol and guitarist Brice Delourmel, both former members of the coldwave band Dead, the latter also known as Giirls.
Blending Coldwave, Shoegaze, and Industrial sounds, the duo shared an Official Video Clip by Mickaël Auffret for “Trust”, the second single taken from their debut album, “Primary”, scheduled for release on February 6, 2026, via Icy Cold Records.
The track combines a moody and desolate post-punk /coldwave facet with an industrial-charged electro-rhythmical one, at once menacingly mechanical, clattering, and danceable in its transfixing repetition.
Dealing with a person who is lost in a dark sea of doubt and hopelessness, “Trust” turns resonant crisp clapping beats, droning pulsing bass sequences and deep poignant, dismal guitar lines, into a shadowy liminal aura around agonized, echoed, male vocals, longing to help a distrustful loved one amidst hateful whispers and icy jingles.
In the Official Video Clip by Mickaël Auffret, a light shines from above onto Years of Shame as they perform “Trust” next to an old-fashioned audio recorder. The vision juxtaposes the clear spinning reel of the recording device with a slowed-down blurriness over the duo to evoke the sense of struggle and disconnection revealed in the soundtrack.
