The German duo of Simon and Kara based in Munich, Yakima Jera keeps on exploring the modern edges and the past nuances of Synth-Pop and Darkwave through their distinctive cinematic and mesmerizing “Dark Wave to End Wave” sound, in the an Official Video for “Dertli Dolap”, the first single since last year’s debut album “Azrael Take My Hand” via Young and Cold Records.
Yakima Jera delves into their Middle Eastern heritage to take inspiration from the Turkish poet and Sufi mystic Yunus Emre, using Turkish and English lyrics to convey the importance of understanding one’s connection to the spiritual side of existence.
The song ignites an urgent inception of metronomic lashing beats and warbling bass pulses, to flow out with a synth-laced mystical aura of droning glows, angsty icy melodies, and slightly buzzing, swirling mists, atop atmospheric magnetic female vocals, releasing restless breathy anticipation before soaring into vibrant cries of heavenly love.
“The wheel of pain turns and turns. Every day, without ceasing. Sometimes the mind gets lost in the spinning motion of an object. There is also meditation in everyday life. We hope you can get as lost in our new song as we got lost watching the windmill.”
In the Official Video, Yakima Jera performs “Dertli Dolap”, not by the water wheel suggested by Yunus Emre, but in front of a modern windmill to sync with the metaphysical nature of the soundtrack. The vision contains a lot of colorful and nostalgic spinning mechanisms to get lost in, including the original iconic windmills made famous by the Netherlands.
