WL//WH Video Of The Day: WORN OUT “Hurts To Know” (Official Video)

Video Of The Day  Worn Out

Worn Out is an 80s-inspired New Wave/Post Punk music project started in 2016 by the Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany-based duo Jakob Zeblin (vocals) and Bruno Schotten (guitars, programming), but was put right away in the drawer to wait for better times.

Fortunately, the day has come, announced in 2023 by a 4-track EP named “The Unknown Demo,” the April 19, 2024 release of the band’s debut full-length album, “The Coming Flood,”  from which an Official Video for “Hurts to Know”, one of the three previews unveiled, springs forth.

A song about pretending to care for someone in an attempt to avoid harm, “Hurts to Know” builds a pulsing murky haze of steady driving rhythms, rushing distorted riffs and spectral keyboard washes, lit by sinister epic echoes of sparkling guitar melodies, bleeding with fiery urgency around haunted, deeply emotional baritone vocals, harshly swaying with pain, shame, and regret.

Severe, purple-tinged storm footage shuffles with a shadowy performance by Worn Out to sync, symbolically, with the charged mood of the soundtrack. Distorted disconnected flows shift speed under a raindrop-speckled lens to align the invisible psychological rift inside with a tangible external view.

Worn Out‘s self-released debut LP, “The Coming Flood,” is scheduled for release, in Digipack CD and Digital formats, on April 19, 2024.
