WL//WH Video Of The Day: WINTER GARDENS “Adored” (Official Video)

WL//WH Video Of The Day  Winter Gardens

Brighton, UK five piece ‘dream-punk’ outfit Winter Gardens, made of Ananda Howard (lead vocals, tambourine), Jamie Windless (guitars), Jasmine Ardley (vocals, synth), Connor McCorkindale (drums), and Ed Fair (bass), unveils an Official Video created by themselves and Chris Welch for the latest single “Adored”, a follow-up to last year’s debut 7-track mini album, “Uncomfortable/Unlovable” via local independent label austerity records.

Formed in 2017, and drawing influences from 80s post-punk, new wave and Factory, Creation and 4AD era bands, the quartet have meticulously crafted a mesmerizing alchemy of Dream-Pop’s arcane ethereal mists, and Post-punk’s moodiness and kinetic energy, with blanketing strains of shoegaze shimmers.

“Adored” explores the discomfort of existing in spaces shaped by corporate masculinity, where conversation feels performative and ego outweighs substance. It reflects the frustration of trying to be heard as quieter voices are sidelined, not for lack of value, but for not competing for dominance. At its core, it captures the tension between having something meaningful to say and navigating environments where being the loudest often matters most.

Swaying between shadows and lights, brutal haste and dire introspection, “Adored” darts through the propulsive urgency of loose drum beats along with snakingly anxious humming bass lines, that churn beneath atmospheric layers of spectral synth washes and sinister glow-in-the-dark glistening guitar melodies, building into a turbulent pinnacle together with smooth low female vocals, turning to powerful siren-esque croons, before a stirring softly sung outro joins with cool and caressing, celestial support to bring forth an immersion of unity and intention.

In the Official Video, by the band themselves, with cinematography by Chris Welch, Winter Gardens performs under an array of transformative lights and symbolic filters. Shadows merge with cloudy purple and green hues to blur perception into dizzying prismatic fragments, and ghostly trace overlays, evoking a sense of disorientation and separation. Then, at 2:30, in sync with the soundtrack, “I beg you to stop” is spoken, and two pairs of embraced hands appear to protect and heal Ananda Howard and Jasmine Ardley during the beautiful invocation at the end of the song.
