Active since around 2018, William Bleak is a Goth-Post-punk ‘death defiant” duo based in Berlin, made up of founder and frontman William Bleak (vocals, guitar, drums) and Adrian (bass), whose DIY symbolic video directed by William Bleak himself and camera by Ilia Murzinov for the latest single, “EsWird Schon” (It Will Be), gives us a glimpse into the upcoming album “Asphalt/Concrete”, due out on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2024.
The macabre and restless “EsWird Schon” delivers the desperate confession of a fallen soul to drive bouncing drum beats, sinuously thrumming bass pulses and sharp pain-fueled guitar lines around doomy, anxious vocals, amidst haunted ghostly echoes, swaying between apocalyptic tendencies of alienation and dread.
The dramatic visuals by William Bleak (director) and Ilia Murzinov (camera) shine dire red light filters across an edgy post-punk performance to sync mesmericaly with the soundtrack. Shapeshifting shadows, intimate eye contact, provocative dance moves, and suggestive poses pull the viewer into the dark and dangerous mindset of the lyric’s extreme non-survival way of dreaming.
