WL//WH Video Of The Day: VURMA “Dark Brown Hair”

Video Of The Day Vurma

Formed only in 2019, Vurma is a Zagreb, Croatia-based experimental/psych-rock/post-punk ensemble made of Mateo Zunic (vocals), Mario Kuzman (e.guitar), Petar Popijac (ac.guitar), Vice Strgacic (bass) and Nikola Erceg (drums).
The quintet have just released the gripping and emotional video, directed by Barbara Radelja and produced by RAAD, for their bal-musette-tinged, folksy rock debut single “Dark Brown Hair”.
Steady acoustic guitar strums blend seamlessly with evocative ceremonial accordion’s sinister serenity bound in hard pounding, sometimes stuttering, martial rhythms as four loud, harsh militaristic screams clash in unison against the romantic sentimental backdrop of a strong bond of brotherhood.
Nostalgic lyrics recall the pivotal moment when life changes leaving freedom, endless possibilities, and fun in the sun to dwell in cherished memories.
Monochromatic grey skies encircle a pale religious statue winding downtime along with black and white checkered tiles under a sober funeral march as white flower bouquets cover the torso of a man with his eyes wide open. A hedonistic feast before a festive toast reveals the true nature of the gathering in a farewell to the fellowship of single life.
