WL//WH Video Of The Day: VACÍOS CUERPOS “Ya No Sé Quién Soy | I Don’t Know Who I Am Anymore”

Video Of The Day VACÍOS CUERPOS

Mexican New Wave/Post-Punk duo based in Oaxaca, VACÍOS CUERPOS drop a dark poetic video, created by La Matla, for the chilling and palpitating shadowy first single, “Ya No Sé Quién Soy | I Don’t Know Who I Am Anymore”, taken from their forthcoming sophomore EP “Laberinto.”

“Ya No Sé Quién Soy” brims with poetic lyrics that extract heavy desperation from a tortured soul whose destructive relationship erodes time, logic, and self into a ghostly shell of alienating toxicity.

Steady thumping beats drive relentless menacing moods through a dire tapestry of distant searing guitar lines, bleeding painful memories through strong magnetic bassline throbs, to expand parallel dimensions of lost hope around haunting and macabre baritone vocals, seeping doom and gloom into an overwhelming thought form of distress and heartache, whilst icy, subdued weeping synth blows wither away into fatalistic tendencies.

A heady horror video dives into the psychological realm of identity loss at the hands of a poisonous connection. Cloudy reflections cast the detached energy of a black and white performance through the mind’s eye of imagination to open x-ray perceptions. Negative light photography triggers a subconscious correlation to desire and fear by disrupting brainwave functions with deceptive feelings. Hallucinogenic overlays, a disjointed time-lapse motion, and split-screen imagery merge into a nightmarish metaphor to depict the harrowing desolation of the moment when a person finds, “Ya No Sé Quién Soy.”
