WL//WH Video Of The Day: USERS “FOR YOU” (Official Music Video)

Video Of The Day  USERS

In times of unbridled late stage neoliberalism and plain-sight genocides, some bands cannot help but channel tons of anger and sarcasm into furious outbursts of slashing rhythms, sharp corrosive guitars, hypnotic bass, and belligerent declaiming vocals that merge into fierce walls of sound, shaking both the (dance)floor and the conscience foundations.

USERS are Sean Michael Seldorf Flaherty (lead vocals), Esbjørn Hannibal Hermanson (guitar), Sune Weisberg Danger (bass), and Oskar Lauritzen Meyer (drums), the Danish Post Punk unit from Copenhagen who drop a modern dystopic video by Anton Brounéus for their second single “FOR YOU,” via Spektakel.

“FOR YOU” delves deep into themes of power, control, and exploitation. Released against the backdrop of the U.S. election campaign, it carries a strong message: no matter who holds power, we are left as mere pawns—oppressed and ignored by those in control. Disguised as a love song, FOR YOU exposes the toxic dynamics of both personal and political relationships.

Raw and edgy feelings waft over a buzzing, sneakingly pulsing backdrop of groovy anticipation, imbued by caustic spoken word confessions, before a sonorously throbbing, ominously ascending bassline triggers a massive sweep of frantic stabbing guitar riffs and pounding, doom-laden drums, to erupt around unrestrained primal screams, backed, intermittently, by sarcastic echoes and jovial hoots, releasing tension and fury.

The accompanying music video, directed by Anton Brounéus, translates the dystopian, politically charged atmosphere of the song into a striking visual narrative. Together, the music and video create a powerful commentary on the issues facing contemporary society.

The Official Music Video, by Anton Brounéus, depicts a relationship torn apart by a two-party political system to sync with the postmodern theme of the soundtrack. After a woman hands a man an election ballot with a knowing look in her eyes, a series of tense and angry scenes play out, taking the viewer on a roller coaster ride of red and blue obsessions.
