WL//WH Video Of The Day: URCO “Creia en ti / I Believed in You”

Video Of The Day URCO

Boiro-based one-man band from Galicia, URCO, blends organic instrumentation, like guitar and bass, with analog synthesizers, sequencers, and drum machines from the second half of the 20th century, to craft immersive, emotional and melancholic Darkwave, Coldwave, and Post-punk infused soundscapes.

The Spanish musician releases an enchanting video for the dark romantic track “Creia en ti” (I believed in You), the title track from his latest 4-track EP, which also includes a cover of “Last Christmas” by Wham.

El Urco is a dog from Galician and Asturian mythology and is featured in one of the clip’s stunning sculptures.

Arousing textures weave mesmerizing bassline throbs and dry, abrasive guitar strings around the searing heat of soaring synth strains and light tapping beats to build an emotional stirring of painful memories for the low atmospheric vocals, enshrouded in an echoing drone to release painful memories, albeit unwillingly, into the sway of despair.

Introspective lyrics ruminate over a fleeting lost love, swinging back and forth between the past and the present in a helpless reverie of obsessive emotional turmoil.

Mystical auras play with lights and shadows around an anonymous silhouette dancer to unveil the mysterious passions burning within. Black and white photography clashes hypnotic hand gestures against cloudy skies, while rays of sunlight switch to a studio’s electricity bending time and dimension with length enhancing camera angles.  Quick cut scenes travel to ancient sites, where carved statues and fire rituals set a supernatural tone to the enigmatic plot, leaving a hint of wonder stirring in the mind.
