Tristixia, the Thessaloniki, Greece-based experimental synth solo project of lyricist, singer, and multi-instrumentalist Sotirios Koukoulas, co-founder of the minimal synth duo Kama Muta and previously known as Yellow Dan, has shared a video clip for the latest Dark Wave, Synth-laden single, “prin nyxtwsei” via Erevos Records.
“prin nyxtwsei” (before night falls) is a song about nyctophobia. Nyctophobia can be seen as the fear that arises within your body and mind when night falls. Everyone experiences their own version of “night” and everyone has their own unique fears. Yet, when carried by electronic/darkwave melodies, “prin nyxtwsei” ventures into the void.
Eerie crushed, icy synth melodies sadly and obsessively twinkle atop chugging throbs of humming bass lines and tight thudding drum beats, to sprawl over moody vocals, capturing an array of edgy emotions, in a dire and ominous veil of secrecy and longing, whilst layers of cool swathes envelope with cathartic frequencies.
In the video clip, from day into night, tristixia presents “prin nyxtwsei” on an urban rooftop to sync with the twilight psychology of the soundtrack. Outdoor dance sequences, off kilter bathroom shots, and candid venue clips change color and clarity as the female dancer switches into a mysterious black robe persona to invoke the sentiments of the lyrics.
