WL//WH Video Of The Day Trianglecuts
Trianglecuts is a DIY multidisciplinary Electronic/Dark Wave project based in Manchester, UK, comprising vocalist, visual artist and lyricist Gwen Osmond and music producer Doug Gordon.
Created and directed by Gwen Osmond herself, the music video for the “visceral dark synth-pop” single “A Way to Escape” provides the first foretaste of the forthcoming debut studio album, “When Death Leaves”, due in early 2026 via Ghost Replica Media.
In an interview with Brutal Resonance, Gwen says,
“A Way to Escape is about female trauma, wanting to escape difficult situations, ambiguous, messed up and confusing situations, inner turmoil and fighting with yourself.”
“A Way to Escape” is symbolic and sways between a dreamy introspection and a noisy, aggression where haunted female vocals revolve from sad, ghostly vulnerability to rough, relentless anger, amidst high desperate cries, encircled by an eerie aura built by dire whimpering synth melodies and screechy feedbacks, churned by ominous buzzing bass lines and steady thumping beats, seamlessly rising and falling, helmed by an earnest moody emotional resonance.
Later in the BR interview, Doug says,
“Lyrics come out of what Gwen is reading at the time. In the case of this song, Gwen was reading books about trauma both psychologically and as expressed through performance art.”
A paired DIY interpretive video produced by and starring Gwen Osmond uses an array of distortions to sync with the disturbing psychological themes expressed in the soundtrack. Unnatural jittery flows, blurry shadows, and strange coagulations of color transform a woman into a nightmarish possession swept by death and duality.
