Hong Kong‘s new wave / dreampop / shoegaze 5-piece Thud, comprised of Andy and Sky on guitars, brothers Wang and Wai on bass and drums, and Kim on vocals and synth, are back, after last year limited cassette “Prime of Pride”, with a new 2-track single, the 7″ vinyl edition will be released later in the year, typical of their well-balanced, dense, sensuous, and noisey wall of sound.
“Ado” is a warm and enveloping, apparently uplifting, hazily swooning hit of dream-pop with shoegaze undertones and a summery vibe. Ethereal vocals, shimmering, layered guitars, swells of synths, pounding drums perfectly melt together. Crafting a blissful and mesmerizing, warm and enveloping, atmosphere filled with deep melancholy and a subtle sense of hopelessness and despair.
Another engaging display of song craft brilliance from a band that doesn’t miss a beat.
