Video Of The Day THIS ETERNAL DECAY
The Italian Industrial Darkwave trio, This Eternal Decay, made up of staple musicians from Roma dark underground music scene, namely Riccardo Sabetti (Spiral69), Andrea Freda (Spiritual Front) and Alessio Schiavi (Avant-Garde), returns, in the midst of a European Tour, to unveil an animated Official Video, created by the Canadian stop-motion artist EraserDread, for “Broken Heart”, a track that is raw, violent and fragile at the same time.
Lyrically, about when a person finally takes a strong stance, rather than being a silent victim, with a loved one and lets them feel exactly how much pain they have caused, through a lens of hatred, insults, and revenge.
Ceaselessly propelled by tight, unyielding thumping drum patterns alongside trembling, distorted bass lines, “Broken Heart” builds a doom-laden gurgling trot that turbulently churns under an insistent sinister slew of icy clanking guitar stabs, whirling ominous synth shrills, and eerie flirring tones, to fuel layers of angry, harsh seething male vocals, exposed by raw, vulnerable pain, into a soaring climax of incendiary screechy frequencies.
In the Official Video, EraserDread creates an imaginative stop-motion clip in which This Eternal Decay performs “Broken Heart” as animated figures, whilst a Horror/Thriller tale, featuring a monster with a bloody heart, reveals what lies at the root of the fury-laden soundtrack. The use of ‘camera’ angles is remarkable, as is the thoughtfulness that went into the detail of the characters.
This Eternal Decay is engaged in an upcoming solid run of shows lined up throughout the year and beyond, with plenty more dates to be announced…
