Brussels-based Belgian Cold Post Punk four-piece, made of Bertrand (guitar), Frédéric (vocals), Joël (bass), and classical musician Sandrine (keyboards and cello). return to WL//WH with “Spiritchaser,” the second foretaste from the highly anticipated studio album “Paradoxical Sleep,”, due out on February 7, 2025, via Spleen+, accompanied by the evocative Video directed by Amanita Noir.
Dealing with a shared way of life increasingly empty and phoney, the greyish and somber Cure-sque ambience of “Spiritchaser” stirs up constantly punchy, at times clinking, crisp drum patterns along with burbling pulsing bass lines underlying reiterated melancholic glistening guitar melodies and desolate whirls of wailing dim synth layers, drawing wistful introspective vocals to admit the truth and leave.
In the Official Video by Amanita Noir, black and white clips of war, street protests, and drone like masses intersperse with a lonely soul who keeps walking up and down a short flight of stairs as if wrought by indecision. Then, a little over midway through, a shift into an open country area where the sun slowly shines color through the monochromatic vision to bring warmth, hope, and light.
The Ultimate Dreamers‘ LP, “Paradoxical Sleep”, will be released on February 7, 2025, via Spleen+ label (the cold wave/minimal synth division of the Alfa Matrix label group).
