WL//WH Video Of The Day  THE SOUND VEIL SOCIETY

Norway‘s long time friends and collaborators, Hasse Mattsson and Erlend Eilertsen, started their first project as a duo in 2024 under the The Sound Veil Society (T.S.V.S) moniker, to create a sweeping and highly-emotive Indie Synth Pop sound, resounding with atmospheric melancholy.

As the Progress Productions label suggests, worthy inheritors of Swedish bands spreading out in the first decade of the 2000s such as Tough Alliance, and The Embassy, both nestled around the Gothenburg record label Service (later Sincerely Yours), as well as Radio Dept, jj, and Air France among others, main suppliers of a imaginative transposition and rejuvenation of ’80s Electro-Pop leanings, spanning New Order, early Depeche Mode, OMD and Tears For Fears, under the lens of an impeccable innate Scandinavian melodic sensibility and unusual, for its latitude, sultry Balearic airs.

The two piece drops an Official Video, directed by Sofie Cederström, for the debut single “The River” via Progress Productions.

The soul-stirring and emotional “The River” provokes a relentless hypnotic, undulating flow, fueled by flickering bass lines and skipping beats, overlain with wide, resonant glassy synth breezes, to carry anxious yet hopeful vocals through icy sparkling swells of bittersweet vibrancy, amid a desperate fear of losing it all, into a mystery of love, loss, and catharsis.

In the Official Video by Sofie Cederström, The Sound Veil Society searches a cold winter forest for lost love with heartfelt intention. The clip stars Vilda Qvick as the mysterious woman by the river who gracefully dances in a mask and black trench coat. As the dim winter sun rises high in the sky above the tall trees, reflections and ripples on the water give pause for the duo to stop and take a closer look, but alas, the search goes on.

Keep up with The Sound Veil Society:
