Founded in 2017, The Minimal Trees, an 80s-inspired Coldwave / DarkWave trio out of Stuttgart, Germany, made up of Holger (Analog Synth, keyboards), Mike (Analog Synth, Digital Synth, Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals), and Nicole (Analog Synth, vocals), have shared the Official Music Video, shot on location in Germany, for “Time” featuring JK on guitar, the title track of the forthcoming sophomore album, “Time”, scheduled to be released later this year.
“Time” layers cold, misty haunting obsessions over rapidly skipping drum beats, restless rumbling and droning bassline sequences, eerie icy bright synth stabs, and twisted whirring swathes, to surround disjointed male/female vocals, alternating sinister doom-laden cries with high angst roboticism, and growling whispers, to freeze warily amid the distant danger of menacing guitar riff abrasions.
Immersive, cinematic visuals shot on location at a castle estate in Germany merge eclectic timelines with bird’s-eye captures of Fränkische schweiz and Paris to evoke dark supernatural suggestions in sync with the merciless longing of the soundtrack. Exaggerated slow motions, macabre black-clad performances, and a timeless, mysterious backdrop open liminal portals to haunted memories where dormant ghostly shadows slowly emerge from a subconscious stream of fantasy and dread.
