Started in 2020 around the multi-instrumentalist Gernot Pohle of new wave outfit The Wars, Berlin-based quartet The Maze Cab deliver intense, emotionally ridden songs straddling the line between haunting Post-punk drama and shimmering New-Wave sheen.
The band drops an Official Video by Gernot Pohle for the last end-of-the-year single “Blue Sun”, a follow-up to the June 2023 4-track EP “Insane.”
An apocalyptic romance drifts on the vibrant sparks of poignant guitar melodies, underpinned by meandering bass lines and skipping drum beats, swept by searing effect-filled, aching expanses and spectral glowing synth blankets, to engulf a stirring interplay of desperate male-female vocals, brimming with pain and fear in an eternal struggle of longing and despair.
Symbolic visuals by Gernot Pohle blend cosmic landscapes with suggestive overlays and emotional performance clips to sync with the intense nature of the soundtrack. As a large meteor hurdles through outer space toward Earth, evocative cityscapes, eerily glowing night horizons, and nostalgic constellations bring forth a feeling of deep melancholy at the hands of an extinction level tragedy.
