Video Of The Day The Man & His Failures
Started in 2018 as the side project of Manos Karakatsanis (of Asylum Promises and Mani Deum), the Athens-based The Man & His Failures soon evolved into a full band with the addition of Alekos Sorros and Dimitris Vlasopoulos.
The Greek Dark Wave trio is slowly approaching the release of their long anticipated debut studio album, “Survival Kit,” with the Official Video directed by fellow video creator Nikos Chantzis (Press Eject And Give Me The Tape), starring Angelos Prokopios Nerantzis and guest-starring Mary Vulgari, for the latest single “Subjects.”
Paired with two killer dancing remixes by Nano Infect and Pre Emptive Strike 0.1, the track sways between the industrial laden jingling reiteration of steady powdery thumping beats, murky, flickering electro low end menace, swirling eerie icy synth melodies, and warm, shivering glowing arpeggios raining atop powerful, temperamentally synced vocals, shifting abrasive base spoken words with vibrant gentle longing and finally terrified, frustrated screams, to trigger moments of devotional hope while a nation of blind and delusional zombies face death under a heavy hand of psychological oppression.
The Official Video directed by Nikos Chantzis (Press Eject And Give Me The Tape), stars Angelos Prokopios Nerantzis as a black leather jacket-clad nightclub partier who faces himself in the mirror while The Man & His Failures performs “Subjects” under the strobing neon lights. After cocaine paranoia sinks in, what was once an edgy architectural design becomes like prison bars, causing Nerantzis to flee home and engage in online gambling. But soon thereafter, a shocking discovery makes his adrenaline fueled lifestyle too dangerous to ignore. Will he answer the wake-up call?
