The Dead Brothers are “the greatest and strangest” funeral combo from the Swiss Alps.
They play dark rock’n’roll with Bluegrass and Americana leanings, a kind of “gothic jazz blues” sung in French, English, German even in Spanish; their gut is made of black blues and romantic balladry, singing about stories of loosers and dreamers, love and betrayal, life and death.
The Dead Brothers own in their soul that same unique restless and quivering sadness and melancholy of Rock n Roll greats like Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits and Johnny Cash, the same legacy pursued in the 90’s by brilliant bands as The Dirty Three, Tindersticks and Gallon Drunk.
“Everything’s Dead” is a gloomy and sinister ballad, meditative and sinfully appealing, a passionate exploration of life and death of rare dark visceral intensity, costantly looking for beauty within the pain, even in the darkest hours, always with a smile.
Quoting Charles Bukowski : “We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us.”
