Video Of The Day THE DARKSTAR CALLING
Started in 2017 by the longstanding stalwart of the Mexican underground music scene Mario Del Rio, The Darkstar Calling is his ‘most intimate, experimental and moody project’, a melodic, emotional and immersive concoction of Dark Wave, Gothic Rock and Post-Punk elements through pulsating interplays and creative arrangements of diverse acoustic, electric, and synthetic instrumentation.
Mario Del Rio (Voice, Guitar, Bass, Programming) is joined by Ignacio Fontán Blanch (Drums, Percussion, Chorus) and Viridiana Márquez (Cello), in an intoxicating video, produced by Daniel Drack from Gráfica Humana, for the evocative song “Anywhere”, taken from the recently released 7-track mini-album “The Moors of Forever Gone.”
Heavy swirling and churning apocalyptics ignite obsessive fiery guitar strains, smooth searing, orchestral swathes, heart palpitating beats, and thundering bass lines into tumultuous swaying and twinkling tides around commanding atmospheric vocals, achingly rising and falling into urgent, dramatic cello plucks and poignant piano melodies, dwelling restless below the burning passions of broken dreams.
The eloquent, symbolic video, produced by Daniel Drack from Gráfica Humana, casts moody lights and shadows over an intimate performance to awaken a troubled soul from the devastating darkness of despair. An edgy black-clad quartet pulls the viewer into an alternate realm of consciousness using penetrating gazes, spiritual totems, and hypnotic suggestions to open the mind’s eye of lost wisdom into hope and insight.
