WL//WH Video Of The Day: THE CORAL SEA “Your Feathers Up”

Video Of The Day  The Coral Sea

Formerly known as House of Wolves, with 3 Chamber-Pop Indie albums under his belt between 2011 and 2016, The Coral Sea is the subsequently rebranded, due to trademark issues, music project, and moniker of Los Angeles native of Italian and Mexican ancestry, singer-songwriter Rey Villalobos.

Ojai, California-based Folk-Rock artist has dropped an immersive video, edited and directed by Christian Smith, for the new single “Your Feathers Up”, featuring Dave Depper (of Death Cab for Cutie) on lead guitars and Ji Tanzer on drums, taken from the forthcoming album, “Golden Planet Sky”, scheduled for release on 20th January 2023.

The restless and nostalgic “Your Feathers Up”, laced with introspection and stirring passion, sets temporarily aside the orchestral arrangements and acoustic tones, to inject an invigorating dose of groovy distorted electricity steepened in epic tension and dark angst, through a vibrant array of steady punchy drum beats, rumbling bass lines, and ringing and rattling guitar riffs, whilst urgent, aching breathless vocals, shrouded in haunted echoes, long and croon in tense emotional abandon, to fall dramatically into pain fueled tides of evocative piercing string desperation.

The cinematic, surreal video by Christian Smith follows the fragmented crew through a typical sunny day in California. Cloudless skies along endless seashores, intersperse with beach city hangouts and palm tree-lined mountainsides, to fill the mind’s eye of West Coast fantasy with visual delight whilst dreamy flows of motion and daily activities deliver an intimate insight into a day in the life of “The Coral Sea.”
