WL//WH Video Of The Day: TA TOY BOY “Dark Fantasy”

Video Of The Day   TA TOY BOY

Authors of one of the most endearing indie records of the year so far, the last May’s sophomore 9-track album “Endless Life” via Make Me Happy Records, after the band’s brilliant full-length debut, “This Town”, at the end of 2019, had already dispensed precious soul-stirring melodies and emotions through pure guitar and organ sound, with persuasive nods to a Sarah and Creation Records imaginary, Thessaloniki, Greece 3-piece indie-poppers Ta Toy Boy, comprised of composer, vocalist and keyboardist George Begas, guitarist Elias Smilios and bassist Yannis Lianopoulos, have dropped a thought-provoking video for the break-up song, the second from the LP, “Dark Fantasy”.

Introspective lyrics dwell on a moment of clarity, wherein a couple struggle to let go of a dying relationship due to their powerful belief in each other.

An upbeat sorrow instigates peppy, punchy beats to drive eager vibes through warm glowing synth swathes, low pulsing bass lines, and sparkling, triumphant guitar melodies to ignite searing anticipation around the nostalgic, anxious male vocals long bittersweet breathes of melancholic hope.

The cinematic video, directed and edited by Tasos Paschalidis [AVoid Productions], captures a solo exploration into the unknown tides of fate. Invigorating night lights illuminate the alternate realities of fragmented visitors travelling through an urban cityscape using different modes of transportation. Crawling textures blur split-screen technology into a disconnected journey, while cool grey live performance footage carries the stream of consciousness through parallel dimensions of time merging alienated flows of energy into connected forces of light.

Ta Toy Boy second album “Endless Life” is out now, on digital and strictly limited 200 copies in glorious white vinyl, through Greek independent indie-pop record label Make Me Happy records
