WL//WH Video Of Day Swesor Bhrater
Born in the early 2000s through several small collaborations with A// from the seminal Minimal Analog Electronics act Le Syndicat Électronique and its various sub-labels at the time, Swesor Bhrater, the South of France Dark Folk / Cold Electronic project led by Victor-Yann (lead vocals, synthesizers, and analog drum machine) along with his feminine side Yule (vocals), joined by fellow musicians Otto Daf (hurdy gurdy, jouhikko) and Gebo (bass guitar, additional percussions), have dropped a DIY video for the new single, “I Bring You”, building anticipation for the forthcoming album “In The Crying of Wind”, via the Swiss independent label Eins-Awei-Acht.
SWESOR BHRATER is the proto-indo-euorpean word for sister-brother, a reference both to fraternity and the Myth of the Androgynous, and in itself a clue to what the project stands for – a neo-romantic quest for lost beauty and lost meaning, anchored in and showcasing a mythological and Traditional culture threatened by the modern world.
“I Bring You” ploughs crisp snappy marching beats and buzzing undulating bass lines underneath a resonant array of deep metallic echoes and knocking clangs, passionate, melancholic hurdy-gurdy melodies, and eerie haunting synth glows. At the same time, a stirring male/female vocal interplay blends strong and proud emotional baritones with airy, fragile yet piercing, ethereal cries, to evoke a sense of care, strength, and balance at the hands of a sacred union.
A thought-provoking DIY video uses lights and shadows, negative light inversions, symbols of life and death, traditional masculine and feminine roles, and representations of the inner and outer worlds, to unveil the alchemical marriage. The natural French countryside sets the backdrop for Victor Yann and Yule, who thoughtfully dress in formal wedding attire. A beautiful white veil overlays Yule as she rocks a child-sized porcelain doll under the watchful grace of a Holy Mother statue while Victor Yann, dressed in black, walks the fields, creates, and keeps a protective stance.
Whilst the album’s release date still has to be set up, you can already admire below a glimpse of its stunning EINS:ZWEI:ACHT :FRIENDEDITION: artwork prototype in walnut veneer stained blood red.
