WL//WH Video Of The Day: SUN SHINES COLD “There Came A Rain”

Video Of The Day  SUN SHINES COLD

Scottish two-piece Sun Shines Cold from the Scottish Borders South of Edinburgh, made of Brian Jordan (Guitars, vocals, keys) and Colan Miles (Bass, Bass vi, keys), who combines immersive and atmospheric elements of Shoegaze, Post-Rock, Psychedelia and Post-Punk, have shared the new track, “There Came A Rain”, the first teaser from the band’s forthcoming debut album, “Echoes Of A Former Life”, scheduled to be released, on vinyl and digital, in Spring 2023.

Stained dark waters compel deep throbbing bass lines, rippling, obsessive somber guitar melodies, heavy dragging drum beats, and dull poignant keyboard washes to rain toxic gloom around light disintegrating ghostly vocals, rising with soars of pain-filled searing leads only to fall desperate into a burdensome dread of past mistakes.

The atmospheric visuals sync seamlessly with the spiritual poetry and haunting ethos of the soundtrack to evoke brooding feelings of anxiety and awe. Hypnotic raindrops forecast a battle of ancient powers as dueling ideologies rage under the wrath of the heavens above. Religious iconography invokes vestiges of past suffering, drawing from shapeshifting clouds, eclipsed black sun rays, haunted witchy woods, and symbolic shadows to merge parallel timelines under the translucent magnetism of the full moon’s revelations.
