Video Of The Day Soft Bait

After the release of the well-received debut album “Plot Points” in 2022, the New Zealand four piece Post Punk band Soft Bait from Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland, make a thrilling return with the new single “No Bad Days”, paired with a striking music video created by local filmmakers Sports Team, building anticipation for their forthcoming sophomore album.

Distinctive of the group’s abrasive and hypnotic yet highly melodic Post-Punk, “No Bad Days”, which craves good fortune at the expense of monotony, ignites a toxic rush of unremitting busy drumming and thrumming basslines to inject relentless frustration under layers of evocative lacinating guitar riffs and cutting jagged obsessions, bleeding doom around emotional vocals, ranging from simmering spoken word to uninhibited primal screams, backed by a shouting chorus. An epic dissonant and chaotic release of pent-up rage after a calm, reflective, somehow soulful, intermission, puts the final touch on a classic electrifying moody rant.

Sports Team paints Soft Bait in bright neon colors to portray friends having a mindless time, regardless of the cost, in sync with the sentiments of the soundtrack. One member, after escaping the captivity of a basement, feels alienated for not being able to fit in, so he fiddles with the guitar. The group decides to have a jam session in the backyard and playNo Bad Days, thus relieving the discomfort of the afflicted.

Soft Bait will play a release show at the underground hub Whammy Bar on July 27, 2024 to celebrate, known for their blistering live performances, not to be missed if you will be around.
