WL//WH Video Of The Day: SMALL PLEASURES “Mon Amour”

Video Of The Day  SMALL PLEASURES

Fresh from reaching the milestone of the debut album, titled “Songs For Lovers,”, where the band was ably to rework the best tropes of the Post-punk genre with a fresh and distinctive flair, the Victoria, British Columbia‘s two piece Small Pleasures, made of life partners Viny (Bass/Vocals) and Nevada (Drums/Vocals/Synth), returns to WL//WH with a video by Sean Stanley for the 5th LP track, “Mon Amour.”

Both music partners and life partners, “Songs For Lovers” represents a moment in time, our love story, and the emotions we felt while writing this record together. The music signifies a cathartic release, touching on themes of desire, love, loss, and connection.says Viny & Nevada

Shrouded in a surreal, at times gritty, sensual realm, the song ignites the relentless frenetic propulsion of rowdy, throbbing bass lines and forceful drum beats that simultaneously grind and smack with droning energy under heavy mists cast by eerie, piercing drifts of icy shivering synth stabs amidst blissful spoken female vocals, breathily anticipating “Mon Amour.”

The accompanying visuals by Sean Stanley employ a range of trippy editing techniques to turn an intimate performance by Small Pleasures of Mon Amourinto a multi-dimensional headspace. Blurry trace overlays combine with melting prismatic colors and fuzzy visions to alter perception in alignment with the soundtrack.

Keep up with Small Pleasures:
