Video Of The day SLEEPING PILLS
Tampa, Florida’s dark surf post-punk’ 4-piece are just dropped the visual for “Drift Away”, a track taken from last year’s excellent sophomore album “A Maze In A Wave”, filled with intense, urgent and brilliant post-punk.
The hypnotic and bewitching “Drift Away” is rooted in the romantic and tormented baritone crooning vocals of frontman Phil Taylor that provide the gloomy atmosphere and mood to the solid sonic foundations build by relentless bass and drums around which weave blissfully reverbed melodic surf guitars and ominous swell of synths to rise the wish of escapism ‘drifting away’, possibly drug-induced, from the madness of the world around.
The simple yet powerful psychedelic video directed by fellow Merchandise‘s mastermind Carson Cox suggests, through fictitious lysergic hints of waves and water, a world revolving out of control as he puts on his sunglasses and drifts away to another place
