WL//WH Video Of The Day SCRATCH KELLY
Scratch Kelly is an Electronic music producer, songwriter and sound designer based on the remote West Coast of Tasmania who enjoys experimenting with distortion and harmonic frequencies.
The DIY musician and composer just dropped a video clip for “Land Of Fools”, a cinematic hazy excursion into Dark Wave realms taken from the upcoming album “Pop 2.0”, scheduled for release on March 20, 2025.
A slow rolling mesmeric dystopia, “Land of Fools” ignites the hypnotic downtempo pace of mechanical steady beats, dotted by both crispy and tinny, hissing off-tempo percussive patterns, along with loose granular droning bass tones, swelling through a vibrant desolate array of icy twirling and flickering synth strains and twinkly echoing plucks, while soft, detached, unaffected vocals hypnotically repeat “I’m working hard and safe.”
A vintage science-style video syncs up-close caterpillar explorations with the thought-provoking lyrics of the soundtrack. The furry, striped, multi-legged insects are busy at work as they inch along branches, instinctually build a protective cocoon, and finally blooms into a fragile butterfly.
