Video Of The Day  SALAMIRECORDER & THE HI-FI PHONOS

The Viennese 60s-inspired rock’n’roll combo Salamirecorder & the Hi-Fi Phonos, led by vocalist and lyricist Felix Schnabl from Telebrains, Laundromat Chicks, and Sux Sux Sux, herald the incoming Tour Dates with a video by Bastian Weinzierl and Simos Batzakis, for “Fight ‘Em”, part of the double A-side 7” vinyl single “Night Song/Fight ‘Em”, released in late 2024 via Siluh Records.

Harking back to a “Pebbles” and “Back from the Grave” timeless parallel universe, the trio delivers a raw and instinctive lo-fi Garage Punk with a sure knack for danceable rhythms and catchy beat melodies, that hits straight to the heart and soul.

The song describes the intense feelings of young people who, during a night of intoxicated partying, perceive themselves as outsiders to the rest of the world. This ode to hatred of all idiots was recorded in the band’s own rehearsal room with a 4-track cassette recorder. The resulting rawness and directness could hardly better convey teenage angst.

“Fight ‘Em” urgently blasts with effervescent Sixties spirit through an electrifying and straightforward combination of rousing drum beats and lively throbbing bass lines with resonant layers of bold and brash guitar riffs, swaying and scraping against expressive, atmospheric male vocals, crooning with loaded raucous energy, breaking into ecstatic screams, to evoke a sense of wildness, fun, and camaraderie.

The Music Video, written & produced by Felix Schnabl, and directed & edited by Bastian Weinzierl, shows SALAMIRECORDER & THE HI-FI PHONOS performing “Fight ‘Em” on a fictional talent show to sync with the vintage vibe of the soundtrack. A tiny black and white television sets a crowd of cheering women next to the trio, who wear fitted suits with ties and sunglasses, to hone in on their aloof and groovy enthusiasm. Two-thirds of the way through, a psychedelic transition takes hold, slowing things down and shifting perception, bringing to mind the real cultural shift that took place during the 1960s.
