WL//WH Video of the Day : PRINZESSIN “Trial & Error”

Video Of The Day

“Synthetic music for troubled souls” embodies the infectious and intriguing blend of coldwave, new wave and synth-pop from Nantes based French artist/musician Prinzessin, straddling the line between the past and the present, between introspective gloom and euphoric synth-laden dance music.
After last May, mostly instrumental, debut cassette album “I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream”Prinzessin has just released the new 4-track EP titled “Exit Wounds”, soon followed by the visuals for the first song“Trial & Error”.

Thuddingly repetitive kick drums, hard hitting whipping beats, hypnotic, tight and resonant, menacing bass lines and swathes of piercing dramatic synth riffs to create a deep sense of tension and self-loathing, fuelled by depressed detached hopeless vocals of longing, with moments of soaring hope. A danceable and mesmerizing darkly synth statement with intense emotional distress, sensual allure and distinctive pop sensibility.

Alone and abandoned a man roams the streets trying to numb the pain of a broken heart. He asks himself, “is this all in vain?” and sadly admits, “I am lost in this game.” His life continues to spiral out of control as he comes to terms with the fact that “there is nowhere he can go” to hide.

The video, create by Stigmate Noir, begins with the statement ‘Sell your soul Sign here…’. Using cut/layerd photography, distorted disfigured body dysmorphia, and intense disturbing images to create a deranged, frightful miasma mirroring and enhancing the song beautifully.
