It’s hard to find nowadays someone able to shape a compelling heavily EBM, wave and post punk-infected industrial brand of techno better than the Berlin-based New Yorker young producer and Silent Servant protégé Phase Fatale.
With his personal, charismatic and experimental approach to electronic music coupled with a strong iconoclastic and challenging attitude, Hayden Payne is tainting and rousing the darkest dance floors all around the world.
An engaging example of his ability in building tension is “Operate Within” in which are deployed menacing synth pads and steady kick drum, plunged into a tense and disturbing restrained atmosphere scarred by a mechanical beat sequence, manic vocals and minimal sonic elements hypnotically repeated, up to be awashed by invasive synth layers, reaching a sinister climax.
Impossible not getting involved and beautifully unsettled, especially if paired with the compelling related video by the Berliner X-IMG, a platform for dark electronic music & audio/video art.
