Perlee is an Alternative/Indie/Dream Pop duo who split their lives between Ireland and Berlin to explore themes of unconditional love, the banality of a capitalist society, self-actualization, and long-distance relationships through a portal of distance and time.
After two critically acclaimed EPs in 2020, Perlee prepares to drop their anticipated debut full-length album, “Speaking From Other Rooms,” due out on April 21st via Greenbay Records / Backseat, with a sneak peek video, directed by Mark Smyth, for the first unveiled track “Lampshade.”
The eight songs were developed and tweaked in the band’s Berlin studio for over two years, while working remotely with drummer/producer Matt Ingram (Laura Marling, LUMP), resulting in a more textural, yet still dreamy sound with a further dark twist.
“Lampshade” glows in the unfiltered radiance of maturity while remembering the shy, censored days through a lens of confidence and wisdom.
Infused by an 80s-tinged Fleetwood Mac-esque melodic charm, intoxicating, misty reflective auras weave urgent, passionate strums of shimmery guitar obsessions, laced with glistening swells, warm chugging bass lines and heart-racing drum beats, to carry breathless harmonies from beautiful emotional female vocals into timeless dreamy expansions of love and longing.
Dramatic visuals shot on location in Ireland by Mark Smyth at Killinagh House, The Ballroom of Romance, and McHugh’s Bar, star Seamus O’Rourke and Matthew O’Brien in a magical coming-of-age tale. A guardian angel guides an eccentric free spirit through a series of enlightening adventures to stir the frozen soul with warmth, magic, and comfort. An uplifting and inspiring manifestation of sight and sound that really stands out in this darkened realm of uncertainty and doom.
Perlee’s debut album, “Speaking From Other Rooms,” is slated for release, in Vinyl 12″/CD & Digital formats, on April 21st via Greenbay Records / Backseat.
