Back in the new year Obsolenia, the Minimal Synth /Wave project of Mexico City-based synthesist Iván Porto drops an audio-visual single, “Recuerdos”, in advance of his forthcoming third EP, “Avanzar – Reiniciar“, via fellow independent label We Are One Records.
Poetry and sound open visions of a dark electric-charged urban landscape where ominous, looming auras urge steady, pounding beats, cut by clapping lashes, menacing droning bouncy bassline reiterations, and flurries of sinister icy bright swirling synth shivers, to afflict haunted vocal agony with relentless, stabbing momentums of tragic memories.
The symbolic DIY visuals capture a lonely walk from twilight into the darkness to evoke discomforting feelings of isolation and fear. A minimal, natural environment cast in surreal moods sets the stage for a psychological dive into a hard-to-see realm of subconscious shadows, lighting disconnected insights toward self-discovery.
